1798. Small Eagle, 13 Stars. B-1, BB-82, Rarity 3. PCGS graded EF-40. A hint of light gold tone and well struck. In 1798 there were two leftover dies with the Small Eagle design that were used for coinage, one reverse was paired with an obverse with 13 stars (this variety) and the other obverse had 15 stars. Hence both of these are easy to attribute and often included with the major variety collections. Here is a nice hihg grade example! Pop 29; 50 finer at PCGS.
Estimated Value $10,000 - 11,000.

Lot 1532
1802. Close Date. B-6, BB-241, Rarity 1. NGC graded AU-50. Mostly untoned with bright silver centers that deepen to pale gold near the rims. The strike is sharp and the grade high enough that Liberty retains stong curl separation and the eagle's wings are boldly defined and well preserved. This is a tough grade to find for this series, as most of the early silver dollars circulated much longer and fall into lower grades for the most part. This is a handsome example that should please most specialists. Pop 5; 19 finer at NGC for the variety.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.
